HC Deb 11 May 1939 vol 347 cc700-1W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that Messrs. R. A. Lister and Company, of Dursley, employ a Dr. Bondi; that this firm is anxious for some immediate decision as to his naturalisation in order that he can travel abroad on a British passport on their behalf; and whether some decision can be arrived at this week in order to allow him to travel to Rumania?

Mr. Peake

My right hon. Friend cannot accept the suggestion that the convenience of having a British passport for purpose of travel is a ground for granting the privilege of British nationality. The case, however, is being considered on its merits and there will be no delay in reaching a decision.
