Mr. Lawson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that grave apprehension is felt concerning the crowded state of industry in certain parts of the country and the need of distributing new works over a wider area; and whether the Government have any proposals to make on the matter?

Mr. Stanley

The matter raised by the hon. Member falls within the terms of reference of the Royal Commission on the Geographical Distribution of the Industrial Population, who are now considering their report.
