§ Colonel Burtonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that 632W the building societies have now practically ceased to make any further advances for building purposes pending an announcement by the Government as to the question of insurance against air raids and war risks; and whether, in view of the great distress and unemployment this is causing in the building and allied trades, he can make an early pronouncement on the subject?
