HC Deb 09 March 1939 vol 344 c2372W
Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in future, he will arrange for the annual return of the Electricity Commissioners to give an estimate as to the percentage of increased consumption in the year due to new users, as compared with old users, transferring to the grid supply?

Mr. Burgin

In view of the additional work which would be involved the Electricity Commissioners do not feel themselves justified in asking the undertakings to furnish the return of consumption by new consumers for which the hon. Member asks. The net increase in the number of consumers in the year 1936–37 was 852,000.
