HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 cc1476-7W
Mr. W. R. Duckworth

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether the construction of the battleship, now being built for the Siamese Government in Italy, was ever thrown open to international tender; and whether any British firms were asked to submit quotations?

Mr. R. S. Hudson

If my hon. Friend's question refers to one of the two cruisers for which the Siamese Government placed an order with Cantieri Riuniti of Trieste, I would refer him to the answer which I gave on the 2nd December last to the hon. and gallant Member for the Nuneaton Division of Warwickshire (Lieut.-Commander Fletcher).
