HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 c1494W
Mr. Beaumont

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware that, whereas the naval reservists who were called up during the crisis at the end of last September were granted a period of leave on dispersal, the pensioner writers who were retained in the Royal Naval barrracks to deal with the accounts of these reservists were not granted any leave on the termination of their period of service; and what is the cause for this difference in treatment?

Colonel Llewellin

The hon. Member is under a misapprehension. The reservists who were demobilised in October were not given leave on dispersal; they were sent home subject to recall.
