§ Mr. C. Brownasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the London and North Eastern Railway Company propose that carriage-repair work at present undertaken at Dukinfield shall be distributed between Doncaster and York carriage shops; that about 200 men with short service have already been dismissed at Dukinfield, whilst about 400 others will be offered an opportunity of accepting work at York at wages of from 5s. to 10s. per week less; and whether, in view of the unemployment now prevailing in the Dukinfield district, he will make representations to the company to reconsider this matter?
