Member was informed on 27th June last by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury financial and administrative difficulties make it impossible to depart from the present policy of relying mainly on Dominion supplies of meat. This question has been fully considered by successive Governments and since imports from both foreign and Dominion sources are controlled in relation to total anticipated supplies, the supply of home-killed2488W meat to the forces would be unlikely to affect the market situation.
