Mr. Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered the invitation from Kirkcaldy Town Council to attend a conference of local authorities and others in Scotland on the question of old age pensions; and will his Department be represented?
Mr. WedderburnThe invitation to attend this conference which my right hon. Friend has received was not addressed to him in his capacity as Secretary of State. The Department of Health will not be represented. I would add that my right hon. Friend received on Saturday a deputation from the Convention of Royal Burghs and from Scottish local authority associations when their views on this question were laid before him.
