HC Deb 15 June 1939 vol 348 cc1551-2W
Lieut.-Colonel Windsor-Clive

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that large numbers of Army reservists axe being called up for further service on Thursday, 15th June; what decision has been reached regarding the payment of marriage allowance to those who are under 26 years of age; and what provision will be made for reservists' dependants, other than wives?

Sir V. Warrender

Reservists who are being called up for service will be eligible for family allowance under the usual conditions except that there will be no lower age limit.

As regards dependants, I would refer to the answer given by my right hon. Friend to my hon. Friend the Member for Brentford and Chiswick (Mr. Mitchell) on 25th May last, and to information on the subject contained in the White Paper which is being circulated.
