Davisonasked the Home Secretary whether he will hold an inquiry into the methods used in connection with the payment of medical men employed to give evidence in certain motoring cases where drivers are charged with being drunk in charge of a motor car, and, in particular, as to whether the medical man is informed 932W that he will be paid a larger fee if a conviction is obtained?
§ Mr. PeakeIt would clearly be improper to make the amount of the fee payable in such cases in any way dependent upon the result of any subsequent legal proceedings. If my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars of any cases in which it is suggested that this practice has been followed, inquiries will certainly be made.
