§ Mr. ShakespeareIn response to the appeal in the National Service Handbook, approximately 20,000 inquiries have been received. Enrolment has not yet started but will commence shortly. The numbers to be trained initially will be about 1,500 spread over the three home ports and Rosyth, the majority being enrolled and trained at Portsmouth and Plymouth. For the present, training facilities will not be provided in the London area.
