§ Miss HorsbrughOn Saturday, 28th March, 1931, the number for England and Wales, excluding rate-aided patients in mental hospitals, persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only, and casuals, was 1,029,114. The corresponding number on Saturday, 25th March, 1939, was 1,073,975. The figures for the administrative county of Lancaster, together with the 17 associated county1982W boroughs, were 141,009 and 171,326 respectively.
