§ Mr. ShakespeareSubmarines are not allocated to port divisions for manning purposes. Ratings from all port divisions who volunteer for or are allocated to the submarine branch undergo their training at the headquarters of that branch at Portsmouth. The crew of a submarine on service may consist of ratings of all three port divisions but on home service men who so desire are drafted to submarines based on the port to which they are attached so far as practicable.
