Mr. Andersonasked the Minister of Health what arrangements are proposed in connection with the scheme for the evacuation of schoolchildren in time of emergency; for the washing and mending of the clothing of the children who have been evacuated; and whether the provision of such services has been discussed in relation to the payments to be made to billet-holders?
§ Mr. ElliotI have no doubt that many householders will be willing to undertake the washing and mending of the clothes of children who are living with them. Where, for one reason or another, this presents difficulties, any arrangements that can be made locally for the work to be done by voluntary helpers will be of great assistance and volunteers prepared to undertake this sort of work are being recruited.
