Smedley Crookeasked the Minister of Health whether he can state The number of flats that have been completed by the corporation of Birmingham on the site known as Emily Street; the total cost and the annual charges; the number of flats occupied; the rents that are being charged; and why so few have been let?
§ Miss HorsbrughI am informed that the number of completed flats on this site is 266, their total cost is £211,604, and the annual charges in respect of them £10,507 18s. Fifty-eight are occupied. The inclusive rents of the one, two and three-bedroom flats are 9s., 12s. 6d. and 16s. 6d. per week, respectively. These flats have been provided in connection with slum clearance orders, the majority of which have not yet become operative. The question of the use of the flats in the interim is under consideration.
