§ Mr. de Rothschildasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what measures are under consideration by the Government of the Gold Coast for the assistance in the rebuilding of their homes of those 215W persons whose dwellings were destroyed in the recent earthquake and are unable to meet the cost of such rebuilding unaided?
Mr. M. MacDonaldA comprehensive rehousing scheme, to be undertaken at Government expense, is under consideration. In view of the urgency of the task the scheme provides for temporary houses to be built at once, to be followed as soon as may be practicable by the construction of permanent buildings in replacement to the extent that may be necessary. A local supervisory committee has been appointed and is already at work.
