§ Mr. Parkerasked the Minister of Trans port what progress has been made with the extension of the Central London line to Stratford and Newbury Park; and when it is likely to be open?
§ Captain WallaceI am informed by the London Passenger Transport Board that of the 19½miles of single track forming the extension of the Central London Line from Liverpool Street to Newbury Park, 15 miles have been completed apart from equipment. The board propose to open the extension in two sections in conjunction with the electrification of the existing lines of the London and North Eastern Railway, as follows:
- (a)to Loughton and Grange Hill via Woodford Junction in April, 1940;
- (b)to Grange Hill via Newbury Park and to Epping and Ongar later in 1940.
