HC Deb 04 July 1939 vol 349 cc1130-1W
Mr. T. Smith

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the reservists in Bordon Camp state that at meal times they have to rush to get served at all; that the food is very indifferent in quality; that until recently they have been sleeping on the ground with only a sheet under them but have now been issued with boards; whether he will have immediate inquiry made into these complaints; and has he received any other complaints regarding the conditions prevailing in this camp?

Sir V. Warrender

I have no information as to deficiencies in the messing arrangements such as are suggested in the question, but it is the case that for the first few days there were not enough tent boards and paillasses for all reservists. I am not aware of any complaints.
