HC Deb 15 February 1939 vol 343 c1746W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Government have under consideration the introduction of the principle of equal pay for equal work in the Civil Service; and whether he has any statement to make on the subject?

Captain Wallace

No change is contemplated in the present practice of differentiating in pay between men and women civil servants in the same grade. The policy of His Majesty's Government in this matter was explained by the Prime Minister in the House of Commons on 6th April, 1936, and I have no further statement to make.
