HC Deb 14 February 1939 vol 343 c1567W
Mr. Beaumont

asked the Minister of Health whether he can state the number of old age pensioners in Portsmouth; and how many of them are in receipt of public assistance?

Mr. Elliot

I regret that the information asked for in the first part of the question is not available as the records of old age pensioners are not kept on a territorial basis. On the 1st January, 1939, there were 1,121 old age pensioners in Portsmouth in receipt of poor relief.
