HC Deb 14 February 1939 vol 343 cc1568-9W
Mr. Batey

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he can state the total output of coal in this country for the years 1937 and 1938 and the amounts exported during the same years?

Captain Crookshank

It is estimated that 228,214,000 tons of saleable coal were produced in Great Britain in 1938, of which 46,350,000 tons were exported either as cargo or bunkers. The corresponding figures for 1937 are 240,409,000 tons and 52,041,000 tons respectively.
