asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education as on the latest convenient date the amount of the grants sought from the National Fitness Council by local authorities and voluntary organisations; the amount of the grants offered by the council; and the amounts paid?

Applications received in the office of the National Fitness Council up to and including 31st January last for grant under Section 3 (1) (a) of the Physical Training and Recreation Act, 1937, in aid of the capital cost of local schemes:

and supply of teachers and leaders and the development of the work of national voluntary organisations.

The amount of grant actually paid during the period ended 31st January was £74,469 as follows:
