HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 cc1136-7W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Health whether he will request all public assistance committees to ascertain and furnish details of the number of applicants for out-door relief who are in receipt of weekly payments under the Workmen's Compensation Act, as declared under Section 1 (1) (b) of the Transitional Payments (Determination of Need) Act, 1932. the total amounts paid in order to supplement the amount of weekly payments at present admissible under the Workmen's Compensation Act, showing the numbers partially or wholly incapacitated, their age groups, marital status, and number of dependants, the period over which payments were made during 1938, and the number of cases in which public assistance committees, by virtue of the discretion vested in them under Section 1 (2) of the Act of 1932, did not enforce Section 1 (1) (b) of that Act?

Mr. Elliot

On the 1st February, I issued to public assistance authorities a circular, a copy of which I am sending to my hon. Friend, asking them to supply certain information regarding out-door relief and workmen's compensation.
