asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education, what action the board propose to take on the recommendation of the Consultative Committee's Report on Secondary Education that compulsory inspection of all private schools should be introduced without delay?

As I stated in the reply which I gave to the hon. Member on 2nd of this month, this is one of the matters which the board propose to discuss with representatives of the local education authorities.

* These include:
One county which provides milk on five days a week during term time only. Dinners five days a week (one district six days a week) during term time and holidays. (In one district, however, dinners are provided in term time only.)
One borough which provides ordinary meals on five or seven days a week, according to the feeding centre, during term time and holidays. (Milk on five days a week during term time only.)
One borough which provides ordinary meals on five days a week during term time and approximately half the major holidays, and milk during term time and holidays on seven days a week.
One borough which provides milk during five days a week during term time and seven days a week during holidays. Ordinary meals on six days a week during term time and holidays.
One urban district which provides milk and ordinary meals on five days a week during term time and holidays (except during the summer holidays).

Note.—In some cases milk and/or ordinary meals are not provided on Bank Holidays and other specified days.
