asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will give for the year ended 31st March, 1938, information in regard to the period during which school meals are provided?

The following table gives a summary, by types of local education authority, of the periods during which free meals and/or milk were provided in different areas during the year ended 31st March, 1938, under Sections 82 to 84 of the Education Act, 1921.

each county in Wales, giving separately the numbers of council, non-provided, and Roman Catholic schools, and in what category they were at the last available date; and what were the numbers in 1931 and 1935, respectively?

Notes.—
(a) These figures include two Provided Schools, one R.C. School and two Other Non-Provided Schools which are not classified under category A, B or C of the Black List.
(b) In the case of 11 Provided Schools and three "Other" Non-Provided Schools plans have been approved which will—on completion of the work—enable the Schools to be removed from the List.
(c) In some cases the most urgently needed improvements have been carried out, but the schools have been retained on the List until the outstanding defects have been remedied.
(d) In many cases conditions have been improved considerably by substantial decreases in the number of children in attendance.
