asked the Home Secretary in how many cases action has been taken by the police during the past six months in the Metropolitan Police area in respect of games played on machines for prizes in amusement arcades and fun fairs where no other business is conducted, and at other shops, cafes, or other places where such gaming is only an adjunct to the business, respectively?

During the period 31st August, 1938, to 31st January, 1939, the number of cases in which proceedings were instituted by the police in respect of the two categories mentioned, was 63 207, respectively.
