HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 c1138W
Captain Elliston

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the campaign against diphtheria immunisation; and whether he will issue some statement in support of local health authorities who invite the public to accept this effective protection against a dangerous disease?

Mr. Elliot

I am aware that there is a body of opinion in the country which is opposed to inoculation in all forms. A memorandum on the production of artificial immunity against diphtheria was issued by my Department in 1932, and the question of its re-issue in a revised form is receiving consideration. Attention has also been drawn to the value of diphtheria immunisation in recent reports of the Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry.
