HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1298W
Major Owen

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps he proposes to implement his promise given on 19th September last whereby vegetarians will be able to surrender their meat and bacon coupons and receive in exchange coupons which will entitle them to an extra supply of fats?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The letter to which the hon. and gallant Member refers was written in relation to the rationing scheme then in course of preparation, which extended to other commodities than bacon and butter, and particularly to other sources of fat. As regards the present scheme, I would refer to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Tiverton (Lieut.-Colonel Acland-Troyte) on the 6th December.
