HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1312W
Sir J. Wardlaw-Milne

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government have been able to obtain payment to British shareholders in the Shanghai-Nanking Railway of the interest due to them: and, if not, whether, in view of the fact that the railway in question has been in Japanese occupation for two years and is reported to be doing excellent business, he will press upon the Japanese Government the urgency of this matter?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir, but His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo made further strong representations to the Japanese Government on 10th October last, and will continue to press this matter as and when opportunity offers.
