HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1280W
Sir W. Smiles

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will give orders that fresh milk instead of tinned milk be supplied to the nurses in the military hospitals of St. Albans district?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Members of the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service or the Territorial Army Nursing Service are not rationed in kind and are at liberty to buy what they wish. In the case of Voluntary Aid Detachments in receipt of rations in kind, milk would be bought from a messing cash allowance at the discretion of the commanding officer of the unit.
