HC Deb 12 December 1939 vol 355 cc1041-2W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Labour whether, having regard to the reply he gave to the hon. Member for Hitchin on 24th October, he can now state the result of his personal inquiries into the cases of the instructors at Government training centres who were discharged as a result of their services becoming redundant; and how many of these instructors have found alternative work, and how many are still unemployed?

Mr. E. Brown

My inquiries are not yet complete owing largely to dispersal of the office staff at a centre which has been closed down. I understand that in 22 cases out of 38 which have been examined the men have secured employment, and as regards the other 14, special efforts are being made to find employment for them. So soon as my inquiries are complete, I will communicate with my hon. Friend.
