§ Mr. Hopkinasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the Llanelly Electric Supply Company are claiming 25 per cent. of the normal charges for maintenance during the period of the restrictions from the Pontyberem Parish Council; and will he consider giving directions for the guidance of this, and other authorities, as to the basis upon which such payments should be made to ensure that a minimum and uniform charge should be made for maintenance only?
§ Captain WallaceIf the case to which the honourable Member refers relates to street lighting carried out under contract, I have no jurisdiction to intervene as regards the legal rights of the parties, or to give directions for their guidance. There is nothing, of course, to prevent the parties coming to a mutual arrangement as to the way in which the contract should operate between them during the continuance of the lighting restrictions.
