§ Colonel Clarkeasked the Home Secretary whether, when insisting on the rebuilding of the existing headquarters of the police at Lewes, at a cost which it is estimated will amount to at least £ 45,000, he has given full consideration to the present need for conserving our national resources, the rival claims by rearmament for constructional work of this kind, and the need for reserving public works to provide employment when the peak of rearmament is passed?
§ Mr. PeakeMy right hon. Friend is advised that the provision of new headquarters is essential in the interests of the efficiency of the East Sussex Constabulary and he does not think that any of the considerations mentioned would justify further delay in this case.
