§ Mr. E. Smithasked the Secretary for Mines whether he can make a statement on the policy of his Department with regard to the need for a wider utilisation of home-produced fuel and the planning of fuel utilisation; what have been the results of research at the fuel research station; what are the prospects of a development of low-temperature carbonisation of coal in conjunction with producer-gas; and, as producer-gas is the most efficient and economical way of operating transport on indigenous fuel, what steps are being taken to develop the production of producer-gas; and has he considered the report of the Glasgow transport engineers on the Highland Transport producer-gas vehicle?
§ Mr. LloydI would refer the hon. Member, as regards the first, fourth and fifth parts of the question, to the replies which I gave him on 2nd May and 4th July, and, as regards the second part, to 2183W the annual reports of the Fuel Research Board. As to the third part, I am not in a position to make a statement.
