HC Deb 20 April 1939 vol 346 cc529-30W
Major Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture when he expects to receive the report of the Bacon Development Board's investigation into the working of the scheme under the Bacon Industry Act; and whether, in view of the steady decline in the number of pigs, he will expedite it?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

Lord Portal, the Chairman of the Bacon Development Board, has, at my request, appointed a Committee of the Board to inquire into difficulties which the bacon industry has experienced during the past few months. I am unable to state when the Committee will report to the Board, but I have no doubt they will do so at the earliest possible date.
