HC Deb 18 April 1939 vol 346 c185W
Mrs. Adamson asked

the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the claim for the entitlement to pension of Arthur J. Stent, who was recently retired from the post of chief warder in the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, and has held the rank of assistant foreman since November, 1909, with the supervision of an average staff of 50, at a salary of£170 per annum; and whether he will be prepared to submit the claim on appeal to an independent tribunal for a decision on the merits of the case?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Mr. A. J. Stent did not serve at any time in an established capacity and there is no statutory or other authority under which a pension can be awarded. He has received the gratuity to which he was entitled as an unestablished employé under the Superannuation Acts.
