HC Deb 18 April 1939 vol 346 c194W
Sir G. Mitcheson

asked the Minister of Health whether he can furnish an estimate of the number of houses in England and Wales which are more than 50 years old?

Mr. Elliot

The census of 1891 showed that there were then about 5,824,000 houses or buildings used for human habitation in England and Wales, but no data are available regarding the number of these which have since been demolished or converted to other uses.
