HC Deb 18 April 1939 vol 346 c197W
Mr. Hamilton Kerr

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement regarding the proposed negotiations with the United States Government, with a view to bartering surplus cotton in exchange for rubber and tin?

Mr. Stanley

No proposals relating to the barter of raw cotton and wheat for rubber and tin have been received from the United States Government. From a statement made by the State Department to the United States Press, it would seem that they have not yet completed their examination of the subject.
