HC Deb 05 April 1939 vol 345 c2804W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Transport when the new roundabout for trolley buses is likely to be completed and in operation at Whipps Cross, Leyton; whether this will also be used for ordinary traffic or if a separate roundabout for this purpose is to be constructed; and whether any system of traffic lights is under consideration in view of the ever-increasing traffic at that important junction?

Mr. Burgin

It is anticipated that trolley buses will be able to turn at Whipps Cross by June next, but the roundabout, which is to be used by all classes of traffic, including trolley buses, cannot be completed until the tram tracks are removed. I hope that this work will be completed by early autumn. It is not proposed to instal traffic lights at any of the entrances to the roundabout.
