HC Deb 05 April 1939 vol 345 c2802W
Mr. Bull

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the fact that the survey of accommodation in the reception areas has revealed that there is a surplus of accommodation available, he can now state what additional areas in Greater London and the vicinity of London can now be scheduled as evacuation areas?

Mr. Elliot

My hon. Friend will appreciate that, in addition to the local authorities who have represented that their areas ought to be evacuated, a considerable number of local authorities for areas provisionally scheduled for reception have represented that their areas ought to be treated as neutral. Any decisions to this effect would reduce the accommodation available for reception. All these representations will have to be considered together, and the decision on them must have regard to the position as a whole.
