HC Deb 23 November 1938 vol 341 c1789W
Mr. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made with the preparation of the plans for the widening of the road between Newport, Monmouthshire, and Brecon; and when work on the road will be commenced?

Mr. Burgin

A survey has been completed of the trunk road section of the route between Newport and Abergavenny to which the hon. Member refers. Appropriate action is being taken to safeguard the line of any necessary diversion from the existing road. Plans of an improvement at Croes-y-Ceiliog are completed and work should begin during the summer of 1939.

Between Abergavenny and Brecon, the Monmouthshire County Council have completed several improvements recently and land is now being acquired for an improvement at Llanhamlech. The replacement of Llanfaes Bridge at Brecon is also in active preparation.
