§ Mr. Garro Jonesasked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether he is aware that there is a large amount of unemployment among skilled shipbuilding workers in Aberdeen; that owing to non-employment of the large facilities in that port for the building of small vessels, potential resources which were invaluable during the last War are depreciating; and whether he will take steps to counteract this situation?
§ Sir T. InskipI am aware of the facilities in Aberdeen for building small vessels and of the fact that there is unemployment among shipbuilding workers in Aberdeen. I understand the hon. Member has been informed of orders placed in Aberdeen during the last two years and of the circumstances generally. I can assure the hon. Member that the facilities in Aberdeen will not be forgotten.
