Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will state the number of unemployed registered in the borough of West Ham for the three months ending June, September, and the nearest available date in October, 1938; the number of persons who received unemployment allowances in transitional payments; the total amount paid; and, the amount paid each quarter?

pursuant to his reply (OFFICIAL REPORT, 3rd November, 1938; col. 341, Vol. 340), supplied the following statement:

The table below shows for Employment Exchanges in West Ham, the numbers of persons aged 14 and over registered as unemployed at one date in each month from April to October, 1938, and the weekly numbers and amounts of payments of unemployment assistance (exclusive of payments in supplementation of insurance benefit) in those months.
