HC Deb 14 November 1938 vol 341 c507W
Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Prime Minister whether he has any statement to make concerning recent attacks on Spanish trading ships in the North Sea?

Mr. Butler

As regards the sinking of the steamship "Cantabria," I have nothing to add to the reply given to the hon. Member for Kingswinford (Mr. A. Henderson) on 3rd November. The Spanish steamship "Rio Miera" was captured some time between 3oth October, when she left Grimsby, and 4th November, when she arrived at Emden to obtain supplies of fuel, with a prize crew on board, and in company with General Franco's armed merchant cruiser "Ciudad de Alicante."
