asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will invite representatives of Scottish local authorities to meet him in the near future for the purpose of obtaining first-hand knowledge of the economic conditions of the Scottish people?

During recent months I have had the advantage of personal discussions with local authorities in many parts of Scotland, and it is my intention to continue to take every opportunity of consulting local authorities on matters with which they are concerned.
