§ Mr. Hore-Belisha:Territorial Army Associations have powers of compulsory 1663W acquisition of land under the Military Lands Acts, 1892 to 1903, as adapted by Regulations made under Section 4 of the Territorial and Reserve Forces Act, 1907. In practice it has generally been found more convenient for the Secretary of State for War to exercise the powers of compulsory acquisition conferred on him by the Defence Act, 1842, the property acquired being vested in him, and used for the purposes of the Territorial Army.
