HC Deb 27 May 1938 vol 336 c1570W
Mr. Markham

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether big gin-traps are in general use in Nigeria and other British territories on the West Coast of Africa for the capture of such animals as the rare bongo and other antelopes; and whether he has any recent information to show whether such species are approaching extinction or not?

Mr. M. MacDonald:

With regard to the first part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply to a similar question given to him on the 4th May by my predecessor. With regard to the second part of the question I have no information in my possession, but I will make inquiry on the matter of the West African Governments.
