§ Mr. C. S. Taylorasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that certain 1407W approved societies refuse to exercise the power given to them by Section 55 (2) (b) of the National Health Insurance Act, 1936, of paying benefits to a local authority which is maintaining an insured person in a hospital or institution when the insured person has no dependants; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Mr. Elliot:I have no information to the effect that any societies fail to exercise due discretion in this matter. Their attention was specially drawn to their duty to exercise such discretion in a circular which was issued last year.
