§ Sir P. Sassoon:No restrictions of date are imposed upon the operations of my Department under the Ancient Monuments Acts, but, as the hon. Member is probably aware, the Department is unable to schedule or accept guardianship of inhabited houses. Houses of special or architectural interest can be protected by local authorities under the Town and Country Planning Act.
